  Rowing and Paddle Boats:

These types of boats are where I started my boating experience and wouldn’t mind finishing in an elegant, classic wooden row boat.

Worked as a guide on the Upper Kenai River and learned to navigate white water in several types of river vessel, include the Mackenzie River Dories, large 18’ inflatable rafts with rowing frames, and catamaran style white water paddle rafts.  I also still own my first fiberglass white water kayak that I learned to do the Eskimo roll in the chilly Kenai River of South Central Alaska

I still own a 16 foot, rowing/sailing tombstone transom wooden dory with a removable single sliding seat named IDA.

Rowing and Paddling, along with Sailing all give me a strong connection to the sea and stirs a passion within me for these types of vessels. An offshore experience in these small craft will certainly humble you and often times making you feel like a fish out of the water. But once you get to shore it immediately becomes an experience that you will not forget. I will always love and cherish what these small vessels have done for me, and where they have quietly taken me. Plus the maintenance is much easier!
